Frank Lampard names who he thinks is the Premier League’s best

He may have gone AWOL during Jose Mourinho’s most miserable demise as Chelsea manager, nether-the-less, former Blue’s legend Frank Lampard rates Eden Hazard as the league’s best.

Indeed it would be difficult to dispute the fact. The Belgian has been in red hot form this season for the Londoners, contributing 14 goals and 5 assists on the way to the clubs emphatic grip of the Premier League’s top position.

Speaking on Sky’s Goals on Sunday, the Champions League winner commented;

‘He’s the best player in the league for me at the moment.

‘I’ve seen a new maturity from him this year. Not just on the pitch, off the pitch [as well].

‘He’s doing more interviews, speaking English, those things are important.

‘When you become the level he’s at, he’s captained Belgium a couple of times.

‘There were times last year when he was so confident in his ability he would beat players twice. Now there is a directness to his play.’

Making a name for himself with French club Lille, Hazard’s penchant for a dribble, exemplary technical ability and low centre of gravity made the attacker one of Europe’s most in-demand youngsters prior to his move to The Blue’s.

Pushing through early questions about his consistency as well as a much publicised rocky period last season, the Belgium international has truly grown into a Chelsea thoroughbred, ranking among a litany of Chelsea greats such as Didier Drogba and the king himself, Mr Lampard.

Naturally, such god given talent will yet again see Hazard linked to the mighty Real Madrid this summer. With Cristiano Ronaldo’s powers weakening, Los Blancos may just decide to break a world record in order to get their man.
